Job Summary
The Corporate Communications Manager plays a key leadership role in developing and executing World Vision Ethiopia’s donor-aligned communications strategy. This role will lead a dynamic communications team to ensure the highest quality of storytelling, thought leadership, safeguarding, and organizational reputation management.
The manager will collaborate with the Director of Communications, Senior Leadership, and technical leads to position WVE as a trusted partner and influential voice in the sector.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Building
- Mentor and inspire a creative communications team.
- Foster innovation, risk-taking, and a culture of learning.
- Provide supervision to the Media & Corporate Storytelling Manager and guidance to Field Storytelling Coordinators.
Strategic Communication & Content Planning
- Lead the Annual Content Planning & Implementation process.
- Align communications objectives with organizational goals, donor needs, and advocacy efforts.
- Manage the StoryHub platform, ensuring content quality, compliance, and safeguarding.
Content Quality & Safeguarding
- Oversee all flagship communications, ensuring clarity, ethics, and safeguarding compliance.
- Monitor and improve storytelling standards across field and national teams.
Thought Leadership & Partnerships
- Guide the creation of advocacy statements, strategic reports, and white papers.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to position WVE in high-level national and international forums.
- Build external partnerships to enhance organizational visibility.
Risk Management & Accountability
- Support incident management teams during reputational crises.
- Ensure responsible resource utilization and compliance with internal controls.
- Strengthen local institutions (CBOs, NGOs, FBOs) through capacity building.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Advanced degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in multi-channel communications management.
- Proven expertise in donor-funded communications and content planning.
- Strong editorial oversight and team leadership experience.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, ethics, digital storytelling, and sector positioning.
- Skills:
- Excellent written and spoken English and Amharic (other local languages an asset).
- Strong interpersonal, strategic, and organizational leadership abilities.
- Familiarity with content management platforms and digital communication tools.
